If you are expected to do less, in more time, with unlimited resources, then you are one very fortunate person. For most of us, it is the complete opposite. So how can you produce a truly compelling document quickly, with input from many individuals, without having to utilize expensive resources that you may not even have? Desktop software and online hosted services come together beautifully in this situation, and this presentation will walk you through a “day-in-the-life” of working on and completing a valuable document using Acrobat 9 and Acrobat.com.

Acrobat is a rich tool that can do many, many things. Given of course that you happen to know (or remember) all the keystrokes and menu items. But even if you’re an Acrobat guru, it’s not always efficient to manually perform complex or repetitive tasks. Fortunately, Acrobat provides two mechanisms for automating tasks- JavaScript, for grouping multiple actions into a single step, and Batch Processing, for operating on multiple documents. Using these two features can massively improve workflow efficiency and reduce training time. This session will cover the details of using JavaScript for Acrobat automation and creating Batch Sequences. Practical working examples will be shown. All class materials will be provided to attendees on a CD.

As if PDF Portfolios weren’t cool enough, developers can create their own custom navigators. A PDF Portfolio Navigator is the navigation added to the home screen of a PDF Portfolio. Adobe Acrobat 9 ships with a few built-in navigators to choose from, but there isn’t a lot of flexibility with the design. This session will demonstrate how to use Adobe Flex Builder to create custom experiences for PDF Portfolios. If you are a programmer, this session is definitely for you. If you are more of a designer, this session will still give you a great idea of the possibilities with custom navigators.

The success and value of PDF hinges on these qualities:
• Assured reliability and quality in presentation
• The multi platform ubiquity of Adobe's Reader.
Not surprisingly, these features are also leveraged by those who go beyond PDF as a document-delivery format and use PDF as an application-development and distribution platform for intelligent forms, presentation systems, metadata collection, customized calculators and more.
PDF is a remarkably versatile and efficient environment for creating applications of all kinds. In this session, we deliver a sense of the power that lies latent in every PDF file. After presenting some examples, we address topics of interest to those interested in RAD implementations with PDF.
